What are the general characteristics of the process and the properties of the coating?

General characteristics of the manufacturing process include:

  • Material Utilization Rate – 20-30%
  • Coating Application Rate – from 0.2 to 0.8 kg/hour
  • Coating thickness – from 100 microns to 50 mm
  • Base materials for spraying – any metals and ceramics

To date, more than a dozen types of powder materials have been developed for coatings based on aluminum, copper, zinc, nickel, tin, and lead. All of these powders can be applied under various conditions and using different spray nozzles, which allows for a wide range of coating properties. However, the general characteristics of the coatings remain similar to those mentioned above.

Please note that REYM cannot apply hard or wear-resistant coatings. Heat-resistant coatings provide protection up to 1,000–1,100 °C. Electrical conductivity averages 80-90% on the electrical conductivity of the base material. Corrosion resistance depends on the characteristics of the corrosive environment.

What are the basic rules for working with REYM equipment?

Basic Rules for Operating Equipment REYM:

  • Compressed air pressure – 6 atm
  • Powder Feed Rate – Start by using the minimum amount of powder
  • Temperature Conditions –
    • What higher temperature, the higher powder deposition efficiency, but lower coating quality
    • What lower temperature, the lower deposition efficiency, but higher-quality coating

How durable is the coating?

Technology REYM provides a strong bond with high adhesion (30–100 MPa). Guaranteed reliable electroplated contact between the covering and the substrate.

The coating can be processed all known methods of machining, which makes it versatile for industrial applications.

What skills and equipment do I need to get started?

To work with REYM You must:

  • Compressor, which supplies compressed air with a minimum pressure of 6 atm (0.6 MPa)
  • Exhaust fan or filter (especially important for working indoors)
  • Work Skills using power tools and compressed air

Before starting work, you must short practical training regarding the basic requirements. Training may be conducted on our premises or via video conference.

Is it possible to repair a broken piece of an alloy wheel using cold spraying?

Broken pieces and cracks in an alloy wheel must be repaired using the TIG welding method.

Equipment REYM allows Quickly and easily repair deep scratches and potholes on the surface of the disc. Further processing, such as diamond grinding or hand polishing, can be performed after the repair.

What are the specific aspects of repairing a cast-iron internal combustion engine?

  • Crack Preparation
    • A crack in the cast-iron block must be cut with a router bit or drill bit to a depth of 1.5–2 mm, to prevent it from spreading further when heated. This is the most important step in the process.
  • Surface Treatment
    • The surface must be prepared using equipment REYM, using Corundum abrasive powder, until a distinct roughness appears (the surface turns white).
    • If a different abrasive is used, make sure that the resulting surface roughness is sufficient. Sand and some abrasives do not provide the necessary roughness.
    • A good surface roughness is essential for strong adhesion of the coating to cast iron.
  • Filling a Crack
    • Used A-3 powder (aluminum-zinc alloy), which effectively fills cracks and holes.
    • First, you need to to extend the edges grooves, and then fill the entire plane, creating an upper ledge.
  • Heat Treatment and Quality Control
    • While the part is in operation is gently warmed by hot air.
    • After applying the coating Let the parts cool for 15 minutes.
    • If the crack was not properly prepared, a new crack may appear in the coating after 15 minutes.
    • In that case The process must be repeated again.

Can the steering rack shaft be repaired?

Repairs take very little time and are very cost-effective when restoring various shafts, including steering racks.
